I’m honored to have my Lost and Found series featured by CNN on CNN Photos in their feature “Finding ‘ability to dream’ at Burning Man”.

Burning Man has definitely been a source of inspiration for me. It has inspired me to dream bigger and do more – in an open-minded and open-hearted way.

On the playa, people are free to realize their dreams. As adults, we often feel that we can’t do this or can’t do that. We might feel bound by the restraints of the “real world”; however when we were children, we felt boundless. We were only limited by our imagination. This series Lost and Found is about regaining this freedom to not only dream, but to realize one’s dreams.

Thank you to all of the people who shared moments with me on the playa and participated in these spontaneous collaborations. May we continue to realize our dreams.

Selected to the Eddie Adams Workshop – 25th Anniversary class

Thank you to the 2012 selection committee for inviting me to be one of a 100 of photographers in the 25th Anniversary class of the esteemed Eddie Adams Workshop. I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to connect with and learn from such an amazing community of leading professionals.

The Eddie Adams Workshop is an intense four-day gathering of the top photography professionals, along with 100 carefully selected students. The photography workshop is tuition-free, and the 100 students are chosen based on the merit of their portfolios.

A panel of over 30 judges selected 100 applications (50 students and 50 professionals).

Eddie Adams, a pulitzer-prize winning photojournalist:

…covered 13 wars, beginning with a stint as a Marine Corps combat photographer in Korea in the early 1950s and ending in Kuwait in 1991. He did three tours of Vietnam with the Associated Press and won the Pulitzer Prize for photography for his shot of a Viet Cong lieutenant being executed at close range on a Saigon street by a South Vietnamese general.”

Thank you all for your support! It was an amazing evening, with 1500-2000 people in attendance, for the joint opening of Arnold Newman’s Masterclass and my Lost and Found exhibition.

I’m excited and honored to be featured by C/O Berlin in their distinguished Talents exhibition series – promoting emerging international artists and critics. It was wonderful collaborating with critic Eileen Seifert who interviewed me and wrote the accompanying text to my images in our catalog.

I will be exhibiting my series Lost and Found in my first museum show. This is the culmination of a decade of work (2000-2010) capturing dreams shared on the Black Rock Desert. I hope you can make it to the exhibition:

London’s The Sunday Times, April 3rd, 2011 edition, published a feature in Spectrum on the Renaissance Photography Prize – highlighting winning work including Free on the Range from my Lost and Found series. Also featured are fellow photographers: Walter Fogel, Lottie Davies, Richard Boll, Mark Emerson Hamilton, William Eckersley

Fortunately I’ve been able to access digital copies (online, iPad). Unfortunately it’s impossible to find a print version in the US or China. Big thanks to Anna Gavazzi in London for saving me a copy!

Congratulations to the Renaissance team and committee, and in particular to Fiona Gifford and Monica Takvam, on a most successful Renaissance Photography Prize 2011 – fundraising a record amount towards Breast Cancer Care. The exhibition and gala event were a success with over 500 people in attendance at the Gala event.

I was surprised and honored to receive two awards for my images Lamp Mobile and Free on the Range for the categories of Environment and Motion respectively. A special thanks to judges Michael Hoppen, Brian Aris, Bridgette Lardinois, Philippe Garner, Rhonda Wilson and Lorna-Mary Webb. It was wonderful meeting the panel in person, as well as many of my fellow photographers.

London wouldn’t have been the same without friends. A big thanks to the crew that supported me and shared pints: Alex, Anna, Antonio, Avid, Blake, Doug, Courtney, Ed, Erin, Esther, Fran, Liana, Mark, Mike, Seiji and Scott.

I am honored to be selected to C/O Berlin’s distinguished Talents 2011 program:

Since 2006, in the Talents exhibition series, C/O’s e.V. has been promoting young photographers and art critics at the threshold between education and career. Each year, four photographers are chosen to exhibit their work on a specific theme at C/O Berlin in the Postfuhramt as well as at the Goethe Institute in New York City. Each solo exhibition is accompanied by a publication in which images and text enter into dialogue. Talents is an experimentation space for young international contemporary photography and art criticism. As a platform for the future, the C/O Berlin Talents program is unique and unrivalled in Europe.
